I've on occasion been able to catch errors that seem to refer to NULL addresses (0x00000000), but reproducing these are random and tricky, perhaps when the system runs out of memory to allocate, you're missing some checks to if the allocation succeeded or not. Before the error occurs, I'm watching one of the CPU cores running at 100%, and memory usage shooting up to fill the system memory, at which point Video Editor seems to come to a halt for a while, then the memory usage plumets down and shortly after, the exception appears.

I'm currently working with a rather large MythTV recorded file (1.8GB MPEG) with AVS Video Editor 6.0 and getting this same error. I appreciate the help, because of all the programs I've worked with I prefer AVS as its both simple and can produce some great videos. If not I will try your suggestion of disabling the cache. I could be wrong, but I do know that I haven't had the issue since installed the codecs. I believe AVS was running into this error while trying to cache the video file, but couldn't due to the lack of codec. I left the program running as well with no issues. I went ahead and downloaded/installed K-lite's codec pack and sure enough I was able to run AVS with no issues (so far). I then realized that since I purchased my new PC, I never installed any video/audio codecs. I tried simple video conversion with another program and it told me I was missing an audio codec (specifically, the AC-3 Dolby Digital Audio Codec).

I'm working with all this on my new PC a few weeks old, where as before I was working off my laptop. I just saw your reply now - but I believe I figured out the problem for anyone that might have the issue in the future. I don't believe this should produce any issues as I've rendered videos previously via this method.

I uninstalled/cleared my registry files/restarted/re-installed AGAIN and I still get the error messages.

I cleared all my registry files/folders as well and did the update to 6.0 last night as it is the most recent version. I tried uninstalling the program (was using 5.0 or whatever the lastest version was before 6.0). Only way to close the program is to end task via task manager. Also I should mention the error repeats itself, endlessly it seems as about 1000 error messages pop up, all saying "External Exception EEFFACE". I can't seem to pinpoint a trigger setting off the error. This happens at random - sometimes after a few minutes sometimes after 15-20 minutes.

After working in AVS Video Editor for a while, i get the error message: "External Exception EEFFACE". Hi there I've been using AVS now for about 4 months or so with no issues until yesterday.
